The Volta Chair pushes the limitations of steam-bent construction. The continuous bend is produced by steaming and bending green, fast-growing Ash over a mould before drying. This achieves a robust, flexible cantilevered form that offers dynamic support, celebrating the natural structural capacity of the timber.
The Volta chair has been shortlisted for the New Furniture Maker Bespoke Award 2025 and was featured in the Times, the Scotsman and more.
This piece is available in small and large sizes (see dimensions below) but can also be made to bespoke sizes and specifications.
Measures approximately 60cm wide, 45cm deep and 70cm tall, with a seat height of 45cm.
